My journey took me from ticket collection and customer service all the way to operations management and finally to the role of Managing Director. This path gave me a unique insight into both the day-to-day and strategic challenges of running a family business.
I’ve since dedicated myself to helping family businesses like yours thrive. My journey from the heart of one of the UK’s most visited family theme parks to becoming a dedicated family business consultant is certainly unique. Born into the family behind Drayton Manor Park, my life was filled with the sights and sounds of a bustling theme park from a very young age. This wasn’t just a playground for me; it was like being thrown in at the deep end where I learned every facet of running a family business, from the thrill of the rides to the satisfaction of our guests.
My passion wasn’t limited to the adrenaline of roller coasters; it extended into hospitality and customer service, where I took the lead at Drayton Manor. Ensuring guests left with smiles and cherished memories was our families primary goal, and everything we did went towards achieving that goal…
The Walt Disney World Fellowship Programme marked a pivotal point in my career, offering me unparalleled insights into the operations of the world’s entertainment leader. This experience allowed me to immerse myself in various roles across Disney World, enriching my understanding of what it takes to create magical experiences on a global scale. It was a truly ‘magical’ experience and one that I am still using in my work today.
With over three decades of hands-on involvement in all aspects of our family-owned theme park, including hospitality, operations, and governance, I’ve navigated challenges family businesses regularly face, as well as those no family business should ever have to endure. From succession planning and resolving conflicts to fostering innovation and nurturing a positive culture, my experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of what really makes a family business tick. In other words, I get ‘it’.

Developments which covered a 150-bed hotel, Hospitality suites and kitchens, kitchen refits, restaurants, customer experiences, offices, seating areas, rides, and new ride areas, award-winning toilets, animal enclosures, and kiosks, car parking, traffic management, and queue management.
